Colin McCutcheon: Colin originally worked in heavy engineering from the age of sixteen where he climbed his way up to be manager of the cutting shed that manufactured excavating equipment. Colin then made the decision to go to college to study a HND in Computer Aided Draughting and Design. From here he joined the curtain walling industry in the year 2000, his first official position as a draughtsman in aluminium facades. With seventeen years total experience, ten of which served as a design manager, Colin brought a wealth of expertise to Glasshus in 2016.
Colin Marshall: Colin has twenty-one years’ experience as a draughtsman in the glass and glazing industry and has spent the majority of that time working for some of the biggest companies in the industry, having completed major projects not just glazing wise but for the envelope of the building as a whole. Colin is also the go-to man when Autocad misbehaves, his knowledge of Autocad is a great asset to the design office. Colin joined Glasshus back in 2013 and has seen the company go from strength to strength.
Steve Henderson: Steve has been in the industry for twenty-one years starting out on the factory floor from leaving school, working his way up to head of the design office where he has eighteen years’ experience working some huge schemes both in the UK and in the middle east. Steve has knowledge in this industry that is unparalleled, a profound level of expertise, a great eye for detail and a general passion for good design.
Chris Nutman: Since graduating university with a First-Class Honours degree in Design Engineering (BSc), Chris has now started his full-time role within Glasshus. His internship began in 2014 where he worked on the factory floor, outside of term-time. This allowed him to build up comprehensive knowledge of aluminium fabrication over the course of two years. Chris has relished in the opportunity to fulfil his original aim in becoming a member of the design team and looks forward to gaining further qualifications, to carry out the structural calculations for Glasshus. Outside of this, Chris is a motivated creative thinker, who is keen to advance our online presence, developing marketing material and architectural photography for the company website.
Cavan Mcdonnell: Cav brought a wealth of experience from various roles within construction, beginning his career as a site agent in 1996. From here he switched to a site manager within the curtain walling industry, for a Dutch facades company. 1997 was when the opportunity to change disciplines to a Design Engineer arose. This was the major catalyst in Cav’s career, steering his role down the design route. A year later, in 1998, he began as a Project Draughtsman in the Aluminium Industry. Cavan went on to work for various companies, totalling seventeen years of experience as a designer before joining Glasshus in 2015, to become a full-time Production Draughtsman.
Richard Elliot: Richard served his time as a structural steel draughtsman working for one of the largest structural steel & plate fabricators in North America. Richard has since worked in the Aluminium glazing industry for over fourteen years, gaining experience working on a vast array of projects both at home and in the middle east. Richard’s eye for accuracy and system knowledge is second to none, which is a valuable asset in the production design team.
Raul Montejano (Scottish Division):
Raul is an Architectural Technician that has demonstrated his curiosity and aim to understand the Building Sector as a whole by working in different roles during his professional career. All his previous experience has been valuable for Glasshus Ltd.
He began his career into the Building Industry by studying the BSc (Hons) in Architectural Technology between 2002 and 2006. He accomplished his studies by completing his dissertation at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen during an Erasmus programme. Since before finishing his Undergraduate, he started working for Construction companies in the province of Barcelona, initially assisting Construction Managers, and later as a Construction Manager, in projects worth multimillion Euros, including new buildings, civil works and refurbishment projects. After six years’ experience in Construction companies and during the Spanish recession he became self-employed as Architectural Technician. During this period, he worked performing EPCs for Estate agencies, assisting an Architecture firm in Design and Tender Analysis in various projects, and carrying out Safety Supervisions in Construction jobs done within an Excel Supply Chain warehouse managed by a renowned multinational company in Mataró. Following this period, in 2014 he moved to Scotland to study a MSc in Sustainability in Built Environment at Dundee University achieved with Merit. Raul also worked assisting an Architecture office based in Montrose before joining Glasshus Ltd in January 2016.
Raul started a month period working at the factory in Sunderland, essential for understanding the products and the manufacturing processes developed in Glasshus Ltd. Following this period, he started his training as a Designer. Once it was finished he moved to the Scottish division’s office, where he has been responsible for the Scottish Design Department and he has been designing solutions for a number of Scottish projects

Peter Watson: Peter comes from a background in heavy engineering but has now over 18 years experience in the aluminium and Glazing industry. He has held several roles within several architectural aluminium companies ranging from goods inwards management to procurement and finally to his role in estimating where he has been for the last eight years.
Jamie Freeman: Jamie joined Glasshus in the summer of 2017 having graduated from the University of Sunderland with a 2nd class degree in Accounting and Finance. A newcomer to the industry, Jamie originally acquired knowledge of fabrication within the factory – before moving into the office to join the Estimating team.
Ben Rose: Ben joined Glasshus in 2015 as a novice to the aluminium glazing industry. After an initial month working on the factory floor getting indispensable first-hand experience with the Technal system and fabrication methods Ben progressed into an office role. Now after 2 years of experience and training Ben is seen as a key figure in the department, evaluating and securing multimillion pound jobs.
Darren Naisbett: After leaving school and college (joinery) Darren joined AC Yule in 2000 as a fabricator and spent 8 years advancing his knowledge of the systems and their capabilities. He then changed roles in 2008 and moved into the office as an Estimator where he stayed until 2011 before moving to Fendor Ltd where he was part of their estimating team for 3 years. After taking a year out, Darren then joined Glasshus Ltd as an Estimator where he is now part of a 4 man team who are quoting/securing projects up to the value of £5million.
Glasshus use Technal trained installers with a wealth of experience in the industry. They are fully familiar with our quality procedures and see to it that they carry this with them from start to finish, working to inspection test plans. Our team is comfortable in a wide variety of situations including fitting large glass units, to working on tight sites with limited space, demonstrating our adaptability where site limitations can look to challenge us. The whole of the workforce work towards zero defects and this is especially so for our team of installers, resulting in a quality product not just at the point of fabrication but right through to site installation.
Andzej Streckul: Andzej came to UK in 2011 to study Business Management while working as an interpreter part time. Part of his course involved management of employees and dealing with HR issues and processes, networking, problem solving, marketing, business growth and its management. After his studies he worked in university’s HR and H&S department on Corporate Social Responsibility project where he learned teamwork and liaison with people up to the top level to bring results. He decided to expand his knowledge and experience further in his role and accepted the offer of his current position at Glasshus.
At Glasshus, he successfully implemented and achieved certification of ISO 9001: 2015, ISO 14001: 2015 and OHSAS 18001: 2007 standards in Sunderland and Dundee locations in a span of one year from scratch. He developed and documented company’s processes and procedures, undertakes internal audits and inspections, and maintains all its management systems.
Additionally, he achieved IOSH Managing Safely Certification and is in the process of acquiring NEBOSH Construction Certification. He also attended various additional courses, some of which are: BSI ISO 9001: 2015 implementation, Investors in People updated standard introduction, Fire Marshall Certification, Environmental awareness, and more.
Due to him being new to the industry he liaises with experienced external H&S Consultant Jim Scheu who is DipSHEM, CMIOSH, MIIRSM, OSHCR and DipRSA certified. Jim acts as a mentor to Andzej, provides specialised advice to the company when necessary and assists with site visits.
Our contracts managers have a wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise in the construction industry. This provides us with a competitive edge in project operations, allowing the team to successfully deliver jobs from fabrication to site installation with a high degree of professionalism.

Steve Kears: Our recently appointed Director of Operations; Steve, has served his time as a joiner and since worked in the aluminium glazing industry for thirty years working for some of the largest companies in the trade. He was then self-employed for ten years running a successful installation company. After this he returned to a former organisation to take on the role of projects manager, for a further ten years, where he was responsible for the whole building envelope, including roofing, rain screens and fenestration.
Paul Barnaby: Paul is also a time served joiner having worked in construction for a total of thirty years. Twenty-three of those years spent in aluminium glazing, accumulating the in-depth knowledge of the industry he now possesses. Alongside this, Paul ran his own on-site installation company from 2000-2011.
Neil Graham: Neil, again, having spent his early career as a joiner went on to serve his time before transitioning to be a site supervisor in the aluminium glazing industry for fifteen years. Since then Neil has spent eighteen years as a contracts manager, joining Glasshus in 2014.
Kenny Morrison: Kenny started out as a site installer in the façade construction industry in 2001, moving in to a management role in 2007. He has been responsible for delivering full envelope packages up to the value of £16m, including Structural Steel, Unitised/ Stick Curtain Walling and various Rainscreen Systems. In 2012 Kenny gained MCIOB status, becoming a Chartered Construction Manager.
Andy Scott: Andy joined Glasshus in March 2016, after serving 15 years in the British Army. He arrived with sound knowledge in the transport and logistics sector, experienced in the movement of delicate material. Andy’s role within Glasshus is vast, he looks after all aspects of the company’s vehicle’s, examining tachographs and driver’s hours in house, ensuring our compliance with operators licencing. He is also responsible for the procurement of lease vehicles and hire cars, liaising with external companies in competitive markets to secure vehicle insurance and fuel cards, as well as maintenance programs for the commercial vehicles. Andy is also an experienced Class 1 driver, orchestrating the planning, collection and delivery of all material.
